KPHC’s Ono Grindz Contest Rules:
1. No entry fee required.
2. Please submit all entries by August 10, 2009. Entries will be accepted up until the day of the event. Contact us for more information.
3. Each recipe must be original, unpublished, tested in your home kitchen, and may not have won any other recipe contest.
4. Every participant is required to prepare enough dessert samples for 75 people or a large 12 quart pot of soup/stew prior to arriving to Kaumakapili Church. Sample sizes will be about 4 ounces for each person. Sampling cups and spoons will be provided.
5. Soup/stew entries must be able to be reheated on-site to the appropriate temperature as indicated by contest officials.
6. All recipes must include at least 2 healthy ingredients:
a. Whole grains (brown rice, beans, whole grain pasta, lentils, whole wheat flour, etc.)
b. Colorful vegetables
c. Colorful fruit
d. Calcium foods (Choose low-fat or fat-free milk products, low-fat or fat-free yogurt, low fat cheese, etc.)
e. Low-fat or lean meats, poultry, or fish (chicken without skin, no frying, meat with the fat cut off)
f. Use less fat, sugar, and salt (limit butter, margarine, shortening and lard, limit salt/sodium, limit added sugar)
7. Recipes must contain exact measurements and entries must reflect what is written in the recipe.
8. All entries become property of KPHC and will not be returned. Recipes and photos may be used for promotion and/or advertising at the discretion of the KPHC. All recipes used will credit the recipe’s creator.
9. All entries into the competition agree to the rules and consent to releasing their name and recipe for use by KPHC.
Participant Set-Up: 10:30 am to 11:00 am
Recipe Sampling: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
Awards: 1:00 pm
