Jabaw (Jasmine’s Sabaw)

Recipe includes:

Ingredients:

3 pounds Chuck Roast, fat removed and cut into cubes

2 1” pieces of ginger (1 crushed and 1 chopped)

4 cloves of garlic (2 crushed and 2 chopped)

1 ½ can low-sodium chicken broth

7 cups water

1 teaspoon salt

1 whole tomato, chopped

1 bell pepper, chopped

1 whole onion, sliced

10 peppercorns

2 bay leaves

1 bunch baby bok choy (cut into 2” pieces)

1 bunch choi sum (cut into 2” pieces)

1 bunch Chinese cabbage (white stem)

3 large potatoes (peeled and chopped)

 

 

Directions: 

  1. Boil 2 crushed garlic cloves, 1 crushed ginger piece, and meat in a large pot of water until meat turns brown.
  2. Rinse meat thoroughly
  3. Re-boil soup adding ginger, garlic, and chicken broth, salt, and 7 cups of water
  4. Add peppercorns and bay leaves
  5. Bring soup to boil
  6. Add choi sum, white stem cabbage, and baby bok choy to soup
  7. Boil on medium-high for 20 minutes
  8. Add potatoes
  9. Simmer for 35 minutes

Recipe makes 75 small servings
